  5. Jesse, It depends on the card and it can also depend on what type of authorization it is. The best thing to do is call Green Dot directly and check with them. You can find their customer service number on the back of your card.

  6. I currently have a NetSpend card and like the fact that I can walk into an Ace Cash Express and make a large withdraw. Greendot is in more locations in my area however. Is there a place I can go to make a large withdraw like NetSpend has?

  7. Lawrence says:

I have a pre-paid green dot visa debit card & I need to know how much money can the card hold?

    • Michal says:

Lawrence – That’s a good question. The maximum amount of value that can be on the Card at any time is $2,500. Hope this helps!

  8. Peggy White says:

I uploaded 2 cards at the same time at a 7 eleven store. It was late at night and the clerk kept having problems with the register showing that I over paid. I’ve been doing business with this store for years and have never had any problems with them. The next evening I start paying my bills using the credit cards only to find that one credit card was not uploaded. I left the store without my receipt for the transaction. I immediately go back to the 7 eleven to talk to the clerk about my missing money. At this time two clerks were on duty. The clerk that took my money doesn’t deny that I gave him the money. He says the money was put on my cards. My arguement to the clerk was that the reason for the register showing amount due to me was because he didn’t add the money to my card. The other clerk on duty stated that he made the deposit for the night in question and show no overages in their deposit. The second clerk also stated that they had no way of going back and verifying what was deposited to Green Dot. He also said, “I would have to take it up with Green Dot.” I’m not sure how I’m to call Green Dot concerning this without a receipt. Please tell me how to handle this serious situation. I have $500.00 that is lost between 7 eleven and GreenDot. There has to be some way that seven eleven can check their transactions against what was deposited to Green Dot. The clerk told me I had to wait until the owners come back from vacation. The owners are back and I would like to have some knowledge on how they can go back and find where my money went that night. Please Help

    • Peggy, I would follow up with BOTH 7-11 and Green Dot. And I would keep escalating to the next person up the chain of command until you get your money back or the cash added to the card. There are no easy answers here without a receipt, but I’d keep trying.

  9. Can this card (Green Dot) be used to reserve as well as pay for a car rental?
    – even though this card is prepaid; can this card be used as a normal
credit card/ debit card for respective purchases that require such?
[my name is embossed on the front of the card?]

  10. I live in a small town with about 700 people and we get our mail through a p.o. box not our address but I have tried several times to get a greendot card but they can never pull up our physicall address because its not in the USPS data base to get mail there its basically pointless to have green dot cards or any other prepaid for small town what do I do?

    • Rula, my only suggestion would be to call Green Dot and explain the situation. You might also check your credit report to see what address the credit agencies use.
