How To Load Your Green Dot® Prepaid MasterCard®

The Green Dot prepaid MasterCard and Visa cards are reloadable prepaid cards. The cards work by loading money to the card account and then you can make purchases anywhere that MasterCard and Visa debit are accepted. Once you spend the balance on the card you can add more money to the card. You can only spend what you deposit to the account which makes using these cards safe as well as convenient. You can’t overdraft the account which means you will never have an overdraft fee. This makes using a reloadable card a great alternative to using a traditional bank account. When it comes to loading your Green Dot card there are a variety ways to do so. You can automatically have your pay check deposited to your card account, you can load cash to the card, or you can transfer funds from your bank account.

Direct Deposit
Direct deposit allows you to have your paycheck or government check automatically deposited to your card account. Green Dot does not charge a fee for cardmembers to use the direct deposit service. When you sign up for the Green Dot direct deposit you get a $10 bonus credit to your account. There are many advantages to using direct deposit. For example, when you use direct deposit your paycheck will always be deposited to your account on time each pay day. You will get paid even when you are out of town. Direct deposit is the most convenient way to load your Green Dot card. To learn more about the Green Dot direct deposit click here.

Online Reload from a Bank Account
You always have the option to reload your Green Dot card directly from your bank, credit union, or other financial institution. Many banks offer the ability to transfer funds through a process known as ACH transfer. You can easily load your card with the click of a button through your Green Dot online account. Green Dot does not charge for this service, although your financial institution may charge a fee. Each bank has its own time frame for how long it takes to transfer your funds. Usually, it will take 1-3 business days. Check with your bank for more details.

Load Limits
With Green Dot you can load up to $1,000 in any 30 day period. If you attempt to reload your Card using multiple methods on the same day, the Green Dot daily card load limit of $2,500 per day still applies. The maximum Card balance limit is $2,500. Green Dot may accept loads from bank accounts through ACH deposit in excess of these limits in our sole discretion. Your bank may also apply transfer limits. Please check with your bank or financial institution for more details

can i ach my green dot card over to another one? im tring to keep my bills seperate.EX: Charter takes money out slower then other companies so i dont have enough to pay off a different bill. ( i dont get paid on set dates so ill pay one bill one day and a different bill another) ill just have to pay a late fee to what ever bill wasnt able to get paid at that time/day..

    • Mark, I know you can do that with the Mango and Yap cards. They offer transfers via phone from one card to another. But I don’t believe Green Dot offers this feature. I’d suggest calling them, however, to make sure.
