Once you are a YAP MasterCard member you are automatically enrolled in the YAP mobile service. The service allows you to send and receive money to you YAP card by sending a text message from your cell phone. With YAP, you can make payments and transfer money without having to carry cash. YAP also offers you a guarantee that protects you against fraud. As a way to protect members against fraud there are limits to the amount of money you can send through YAP. In one day is $950. The maximum you can send in a week is $3,000. In one month you can send up to $7,500.

This will ensure your account is safe and protect you against fraud. You will never be asked send personal information through your mobile phone. As a security measure for you YAP messages come from a variety of different numbers. This keeps someone from interfering with your YAP transaction.
YAP using the same technology as the safest banks in the world. This will ensure you your transactions are safe. At any time you can temporarily disable the YAP functions within your mobile phone by “freezing” YAP. There is no cost to do so. Freezing YAP does NOT freeze your YAP Card, it only temporarily disables the YAP functions on your mobile phone. This is one extra security step that is in place.

How to Send Money From Your Mobile with YAP
Sending money from your cell phone with YAP is easy. You send a text message indicating the amount of money you want to send and to who you want the money sent to. Here are the three steps:
- Text YAP at 88988: Send an SMS message (text) to 88988 specifying the amount you want to send, a space, and the mobile phone number of the person you want to send money to.
- Confirm Your Identity: YAP will send you a text message to confirm your payment. Just reply with your 5-digit YAP PIN to complete the transaction.
- YAP Confirms Your Payment: YAP will send you another text message to let you know your money was sent.
How to Receive Money on Your Mobile with YAP
In addition to sending money, you can receive money too. It doesn’t matter if you are a YAP member or not because even if your not a member you can still participate. Here’s how it works:
- Enrolled In YAP: If someone is enrolled in YAP, then no action is required for them to receive money. The money from the sender will go directly to the receiver’s YAP Card. YAP will send a confirmation text message to both the sender and the receiver.
- NOT Enrolled in YAP: To get the money, the receiver must reply to this text message within 12 hours. They will then go to a Web site that tells them how to get their money. There is no charge to receive the money.
How to Check Your YAP Card Balance
With YAP you can easily check your account balance by sending a text message to YAP. YAP will reply back indicating your account balance. This is an easy and convenient way to manage your account. Here are the two simple steps to retrieving your balance via a text message.
- Text YAP at 88988: Send a text message to 88988 with the command BAL.
- YAP Replies with Your Balance: To keep your information secure we recommend that you delete the text message after reading it.
How to Check Your Last YAP Mobile Transaction
If you need to check your last YAP mobile transaction you can. With this option you can determine the last out going transaction and the last incoming transaction, here’s how:
- Text YAP at 88988: Send a text message to 88988 with the word last. Write last in If you want to know the last YAP transaction received. Write last out if you want to know the last transaction sent.
- YAP Replies with Your Last Transaction: To keep your information secure it is suggested that you delete the text message after reading it.
How to Freeze the YAP Mobile Functions on Your Phone
If for any reason you feel it necissary to disable the mobile transfering function of your account you can freeze it. There is no cost assocated with freezing this function. Your card will still work, you will only be freezing the ability to make transactions via a text message. This is a security step YAP has developed for card members. Here’s the step to freeze YAP Mobile:
- Text YAP at 88988: Send a text message with the word freeze to 88988.

If You Forget Your PIN
Your PIN is very important because it allows you to complete YAP mobile transactions. If you forget your PIN there is a way to retrieve it. This PIN is not the same as the PIN you would use to make ATM withdraws. Here are the steps you would take to get your PIN for mobile transactions:
