UPside is Easy to Use

The Upside Visa offers free direct deposit of paychecks. In addition, you can reload the card at 60,000 retailers (up to $500 per load). And you can even write personal checks with the card online, and UPside Visa will mail the check for you. You can even view your balance and transactions online in real-time.

The UPside Visa Prepaid Card is ideal for teens, students, those with no credit, or even those with bad credit. The card is a reloadable prepaid card, which means your spending limit is the amount you put on your card. Because the card has no line of credit or credit limit, you can’t spend more than you have deposited onto the card. There are no over limit fees, and you can’t go into debt. There are no interest charges.

Upside Rewards

The card does have a rewards program called the UPoints Rewards Program. The Rewards includes both cash back and rewards certificates to nationwide retailers. You can earn 500 points when activating your card online, 1,000 points when you sign-up for direct deposit, earn points worth up to 15% in cash back when shopping online at leading online retailers through the UPside mall and earn 3 points per dollar spent on prepaid cell phone service purchases. If you refer a friend and they become a card member you will earn 500 points. There are also additional ways to earn points like the Create-A-Card contest and the “Purchase of the Month” program. The points you earn depend on where you make the purchase. You will receive between 1 and 15 points per dollar spent, which are worth between 1 and 15% cash back at select retailers. Once you earn 2,000 points you can cash them in for $20 that will be deposited to your account.

Upside Rates and Fees

Even though the card is a prepaid card and it does not charge interest, there are still fees that are associated wit using the card. The Upside Prepaid Visa offers 4 different types of cards, and the fees you will be assessed are based on the card you have. The table below shows you some of theses fees. For a complete list you should view the Terms and Conditions of the card.

im trying to get my routing and checking number for my card they told me I could get it off line.

    • Tina, you can either call UPside for the information, or log into your account online to get it. They may have also sent you your routing number and account number in the mail when you applied for the card.

It’s pretty sad that I’m not even a customer yet but I don’t have a positive review for this company. I emailed them to ask some questions that weren’t covered on the website and after the first response, they never responded again. I called after sending a number of emails and the rep was foreign, probably outsourced, and couldn’t answer any of my questions. She didn’t know what FDIC was or if the bank that endorsed the company (Metabank in Sioux City) was. I asked about membership fees and she asked me where I saw that information. ??? I hung up. I checked the BBB in New York where Plastycs Inc. (Upside Visa) is based out of and they have had 23 complaints against them in the last 90 days and they’re only a year and 4 months old. They have a B- rating. I would suggest checking against Angie’s list as it is a legal and legitimate source for reliable information. They don’t sell memberships to companies or allow their employees or competitors to post reviews. I am still considering trying the card and then give a review again after a few months.

    • Tiffany, thanks for sharing your experience with UPside. If you do get the card, please do give us an update!

I am desperately trying to reach a LIVE customer service person for Upside ……..I lost my prepaid card and have an entire pay check loaded onto it……..The computer generated customer service says a new one was mailed to me 10 days ago……Now I cannot get anyone to help me with my problem and I cannot even pay my bills. HELP

  4. Seems fine at first. Very nice website. BUT horrible customer service. No replies to repeated emails, phone service was by someone in India who didn’t know anything at all and was unhelpful. I can’t access the “owner” account at all. Password recovery does not work, no assistance available from the telephone service person.

This is the worst card ever…I suggest if you are thinking of getting this car run a
way as fast as you can. They are holding 5000.00 of our money. I may need to get a lawyer. If you want to give your money away then this is the bank for you. They will steal all your money. Take a minute to search the web for more complaints because there are hundreds. All people with thousands and thousands of dollars captive for weeks and months. They can financially ruin you.
